Hi, I'm Betsy, member of the friendly Weepa sales team. Have you installed the wrong Weepa to meet the Bushfire protection standard you need? That's okay. Don't worry. You can exchange your High Performance Bushfire grate with a New Generation stainless steel grate to achieve BAL-A40 compliance. Let me show you how.
First, we are going to need your Bushfire Weepa, your New Generation stainless steel grate, lugs at the top, beautiful ventilation holes. Isn't she pretty? And a flat head screwdriver. First thing we're going to do is to remove the grate on the High Performance Bushfire Weepa.
I'm going to insert the screwdriver into the bottom of the cover, lift it up in it's hinge, and then I can just twist and pop that grate right out. Pretty easy. Then, we're going to take our New Generation stainless steel grate. First thing we want to do is to make sure that the hinges slightly protrude from the top and bottom.
Those look pretty good. So we're going to make sure that the lug is at the top, that's going to slide right in and pop into the hinge holes in the Weepa body. Here we go. We have our Weepa body and our New Generation stainless steel grate.
We're just going to slide that right in until it clicks into place. Job done. Let's just check that it's in its proper place. We can do that with our screwdriver. Lifting up on the lip here, and that hinges beautifully. That's going to work really well. If you've already installed your Weepas in your brick wall, the grates can still be replaced.
Let me show you what tools you're going to need for that job. We will need our New Generation stainless steel grate, 6mm flat head screwdriver, a smaller flat head screwdriver, and a pointed screwdriver or something similar.
Now, lets take you out to our demo wall to show you how to do that. Come on, let's go. Here we are at our demo wall. As you can see, the Bushfire Weepas are in place. What we need to do is get that red cover off first. I'm going to insert the screwdriver right at the bottom of the cover so that I can lift and pop it off. Now, the PVC grate is visible. I'm going to take my pointed screwdriver, insert it into the bottom of the grate, to lift the grate up onto it's hinge. At this stage, I'm going to take my screwdriver, I'm going to insert this in between the Weepa body and the PVC grate. I'm going to put a bit of downward pressure on the screwdriver and just with one finger on the PVC grate, I'm going to push that down until it clicks out and that will pop out of place. Now I'm ready to insert the New Generation stainless steel grate. The first thing we need to do is to check that the ends are spring loaded. This is to ensure that it will hold its place inside the Weepa body.
I'm going to make sure that the lugs are at the top so they click into the hinge holes in the Weepa body. I'm going to insert that until it clicks into place. Now, I need to check my handy work by just lifting up here on the lip of the grate and pulling up on its hinge. That one works perfectly. Now, your weep hole is compliant for all Bushfire levels up to BAL-A40.
